Although less famous than its Virginian namesake, Richmond, Kentucky offers a number of enjoyable and unique attractions.

As the second-largest city in the bluegrass region of Kentucky, the city of Richmond (named for its larger Virginia counterpart,) is an ideal place for the traveler looking for unique visiting opportunities. Fort Boonesborough State Park

The Fort Boonesborough State Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities for visitors, including a museum detailing the daily lives of settlers, campgrounds for those wishing to get in touch with the wilderness, as well as a number of other outdoor activities including swimming, fishing, miniature golf, a number of picnic areas, and several walking trails. The original Fort Boonesborough has been reconstructed as a working fort and also features a number of artisans that perform craft demonstrations.

Eastern Kentucky University Hummel Planetarium

Located on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, the Hummel Planetarium is a Richmond attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to gain knowledge from observing the heavens through a variety of educational and special events. With seating available for 164 people, the Hummel Planetarium offers visitors a chance to see the night sky in all of its splendor. It is one of the most advanced planetariums in the country.

The Pocket Gallery

The Pocket Gallery offers visitors to Richmond an opportunity to not only purchase art made in the local area, but also the opportunity to observe it in the making.
