Calibre Analysis: Louisville, KY

| |

After responding to 911 calls from hospital personnel reporting a man with a gun screaming racial slurs outside their facility, Louisville officers confront the man who resists their commands to freeze. Shortly after contact, one of the officers shoots and kills him. The incident, which was recorded by several officers’ body cameras, stands as an excellent example of both the pros and cons of current camera technology. Although not seen on film, the suspect did in fact have a gun, which he was drawing from his waistband when the officer fired. Watch as Jim Glennon discusses both the incident and the issues that impact investigations of digitally recorded incidents.
